USDA forecasts strong egg prices

Prices are far above the average price of 71.8 cents for 2006, 65.5 cents for 2005, and 82.2 cents for 2004.

In its monthly price forecast, USDA’s Livestock, Dairy and Poultry report forecasts strong egg prices for the remainder of 2007 and into 2008. USDA estimates third quarter prices of 85 to 89 cents per dozen (New York), 90 to 98 cents per dozen in the fourth quarter, for an average 2007 price of 92 to 95 cents. The department forecasts first quarter 2008 egg prices of 95 to 103 cents, and an average annual 2008 price of 89 to 97 cents.

The above prices are far above the average price of 71.8 cents for 2006, 65.5 cents for 2005, and 82.2 cents for 2004.
