A study conducted by Don Bell, University of California at Riverside, released on Feb. 19, demonstrated a return on $5.09 for 56 flocks participating in a survey through 52 weeks of production compared to $4.38 per hen housed for 98 flocks subjected to two cycles.

A three-cycle program as used in 11 flocks was the least profitable at $4.07 per hen housed. The data obtained represents part of the National Flock Performance Study – Part 10 which has been circulated to the industry and is available from Don Bell.
