Land O’Lakes Inc. released its fourth-quarter and full-year financial results including, for its layers/eggs segment, sales of $606 million and pretax earnings of $29.9 million in 2008, up from $514 million and $19.9 million, respectively, in 2007.
For the fourth quarter, the company is reporting $151 million in layers/eggs sales, compared to $159 million for the fourth quarter of 2007.
Layers/eggs reported a pretax loss of $3.2 million for the quarter, compared to $5.1 million in pretax earnings for the same quarter during the previous year.
Overall, the company reports net sales of $12 billion and net earnings of $160 million.
For the fourth quarter, the company reported $2.7 billion in net sales — a net loss of $33.0 million, compared to $2.6 billion in net sales and net earnings of $25.7 million in the fourth quarter of 2007.
