Wayne Farms names assistant vice president, deputy legal counsel

Jeremy Kilburn to combine his legal expertise and poultry industry knowledge in new role

Wayne Farms has hired Jeremy V. Kilburn as its assistant vice president and deputy general counsel. Kilburn’s appointment will be effective January 2015.

Kilburn is ending his five-year tenure as a partner with Preston & Malcom, a law firm based in Monroe, Georgia. Wayne Farms is the sixth largest poultry producer in the United States and processes 328 million chickens annually, according to the WATT Global Media Top Companies Database, and is a client of Preston & Malcom.

Kilburn grew up working around the poultry industry in Texas. He obtained a master’s degree in poultry science and a law degree from the University of Georgia.

“Jeremy’s experience in our industry, coupled with more than a decade of experience advising business clients of all shapes and sizes, across numerous industry sectors in his private practice, has uniquely prepared him for this position with Wayne Farms,” said Elton Maddox, Wayne Farms chairman and CEO. “We are glad to have him step in as part of our senior management team and offer meaningful contributions to our company.”

“His intellect, coupled with his technical knowledge and experience in the poultry industry, makes Jeremy a perfect fit for Wayne Farms. Put simply, this is the position Jeremy was built for,” added Paul Rosenthal, managing partner at Preston & Malcom.
