New Cobb Europe award recognizes poultry farmers' commitments

Cobb Europe introduced a new award that recognizes the commitment of poultry farmers in the Netherlands.

Cobb Europe introduced a new award that recognizes the commitment of poultry farmers in the Netherlands. The first recipient of the award is Jelle Jukema, in recognition of rearing his 25th flock of Cobb500 broilers.

Located in Friesland, the Netherlands, Jukema is a young farmer combining broiler growing with arable production. He has two 35,000-bird broiler houses and 80 hectares (198 acres) of seed potato and vegetable production.

He has reared Cobb500 broilers for five years, delivering birds with a final weight of 2.1 kg (4.6 lb) to Dutch processor Plukon.

“Jelle Jukema is a young enthusiastic professional who is eager to maximize the economical output of his farm,” said Martijn Gruyters, Cobb technical manager for the Netherlands and Belgium. “The new award recognizes his commitment to the Cobb500, rewarding the trust and confidence he’s always shown in our company and our people.”
