Adisseo to increase methionine production

This follows the step taken to build a production plant in China in partnership with China National Bluestar.

Adisseo will invest US$34.5 million (25 million euros) to increase methionine production by 25,000 metric tons at its French and Spanish plants.

These plans follow the first step, initiated by the company last year, to build a production plant in China in partnership with China National Bluestar, Adisseo's parent company.

Gérard Deman, Adisseo CEO, said the global consumption of meat will continue to rise to reach 320 million metric tons by 2015. He added the strongest growth will be in poultry, which is the largest market for methionine, an essential amino acid for livestock feeding.
