Canada declared bird-flu free

World Health Organization, Canadian Food Inspection Agency give stamp of approval.

Under the animal health guidelines set by the World Health Organization, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency has declared Canada to be free of bird flu, which hit farms in British Columbia earlier this year, according to a news report.

Since 2004, four avian flu outbreaks have been reported on Canadian farms – three of them in the Fraser Valley, east of Vancouver.
