If the disease hits the U.K., this information can be used to tackle it. A disease Charter based on a Charter created for swine dysentery has been completed and will be online as part of the Pig Hub. As part of the Charter, producers will sign in and register so information can be gathered to aid the battle against the disease. Producers will be notified of outbreaks occurring near them.

Phase two will be to link in with vets, feed companies and the allied industry so they are aware that one of the units in an area has a problem. BPEX is hoping to have this completed by late spring.

The diagnostic testing funded by BPEX is in place and is being extended to any diarrhea sample to be checked for PEDv.
