National FFA Organization students attend 2015 IPPE

As part of an effortby the USPOULTRY Foundation to promote careers in the poultry and egg industry,the top 10 finishing teams of the National FFA Organization Poultry EvaluationCareer Development Event (CDE) were invited to the International Poultry Expo(IPE), part of the International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) inAtlanta, Ga., at the end of January.

As part of an effort by the USPOULTRY Foundation to promote careers in the poultry and egg industry, the top 10 finishing teams of the National FFA Organization Poultry Evaluation Career Development Event (CDE) were invited to the International Poultry Expo (IPE), part of the International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) in Atlanta, Georgia, at the end of January. Almost 50 FFA student leaders participated in the IPPE as a result.

Poultry industry leaders, Elton Maddox, president and CEO, Wayne Farms; Doug Ramsey, SVP of Poultry, Tyson Foods; and Randall Ennis, director, Global Business Development for the EW Group, Aviagen, participated in a program that informed the students about the multitude of career opportunities in the industry. Students also had the opportunity to visit the trade show floor to see the technology used by today’s poultry industry.

The following teams attended the 2015 IPPE: Hughson FFA, California; Lincoln FFA, Arkansas; Prairie Central FFA, Illinois; Wheaton FFA; Missouri; Texico FFA, New Mexico; East Jackson High FFA, Georgia; Louisburg FFA, Kansas; Crest FFA, North Carolina; and Adair FFA, Oklahoma.
