Vion Food Group names new pork COO

FransStortelder has been named the chief operating officer of Vion Food’s porkdivision.

Frans Stortelder has been named the chief operating officer (COO) of Vion Food’s pork division. Stortelder will succeed Godert Tegelberg as COO of the pork division.

The appointment of Stortelder reflects an increased focus on valorization, optimal value creation through the livestock processed by Vion Food, and responding effectively to the demands of the market, the company stated. By better alignment of its significant supply base to global market demand, and with access to major export markets including China, the United States, Japan, Korea and Australia, Vion Food expects to be able to significantly improve results.

Vion Foods Interim CEO Tom Heidman stated: “With our expert knowledge of meat and the market, we are perhaps uniquely positioned to more effectively align supply to current and future demands of the market. Our access to markets worldwide, together with a significantly wider supply base than the majority of our competitors, means we have a potential competitive advantage that we will continue to exploit."

Stortelder has already proved his worth within the meat sector and has achieved good results, notably in the area of valorization. This makes him the obvious choice to further develop this project within Vion Food, the company stated.

Tegelberg will continue to work for Vion Food and will focus on group-wide projects concerning the export markets and further integration of Vion Food’s German operations.
