South Korea ends import ban on North American hogs

Ministry to step-up quarantine checks as it eases embargo.

South Korea will lift the ban on the import of live pigs from North America. The embargo was imposed following the H1N1 flu outbreak in April, Reuters reported.

Seoul's farm ministry said it would increase quarantine checks and allow import of live hogs from the U.S., Canada and Mexico as of August 12.
