Branded eggs capture larger Indian market

Immense potential for growth according to Poultry Federation of India.

Despite higher prices, the branded egg market in India is growing at an average rate of 10-20%, according to a Press Trust of India report.

The demand for branded eggs is increasing reportedly because consumer perception is that they contain high levels of protein and lower levels of fat.

The market for branded eggs currently constitutes around 3% of total eggs produced in the country. With India being fourth-largest egg producer in the world, potential growth for poultry companies producing branded eggs is immense, Ricky Thaper, treasurer of the Poultry Federation of India, was quoted as saying.
