Oman lifts ban on Indian poultry

Oman lifted a ban on imported live bird products from India that was put in place last year, according to The Hindu news service.

The Omani Ministry of Agriculture had imposed the ban on poultry imports from India last year, but after Indian authorities said the ban was unjustified since the bird flu was contained in the northeastern region of India, Omani officials reviewed and lifted the ban.

"As a result of concerted efforts by government of India, [the] Omani Ministry of Agriculture … lifted the ban of live bird products from India," an official statement said.
