Rosselkhoznadzor, Russia's food safety watchdog, has substantially reduced poultry imports from Kazakhstan as of June 10, according to the Interfax news agency.

The body added that large quantities of imported chicken were being transited via Russia to Kazakhstan and that there was no guarantee that this meat wasn't being re-exported from Kazakhstan to Russia.

It has also banned imports of live animals and meat from ten Kazakh regions because of livestock diseases in these regions.
