Brazilian exports rose in March

Brazilian chicken exports rose in March by 16.5% in volume in comparison to February, according to ABEF, the Brazilian Chicken Producers and Exporters Association.

Some 307 thousand tons of chicken were exported in March, which was more than February 2009, but 2% less in comparison to March 2008.

The value of the exports was $422 million dollars, a 13% increase compared to February, but 24% less than March 2008.

For the first quarter of 2009, Brazilian chicken exports reached 845 thousand tons, with a value of $1.2 billion dollars.

Compared to the same quarter of 2008, this is a drop of 4% in volume and 22% in value.
