Major retailer hails collaborative work in fresh and rotisserie chicken supply

Cargill has been recognized by U.K. supermarket group Morrisons as its Supplier of the Year 2015.

Cargill’s European poultry business is Morrisons’ largest fresh chicken supplier, and has been providing the retailer with rotisserie and fresh chicken products for nearly 30 years.

Pilar Cruz, managing director of Cargill Meats Europe said: “We are delighted to receive this award and the recognition from Morrisons. This is a huge milestone in our relationship with Morrisons and demonstrates the clear alignment between our two businesses and our customer focused approach. We look forward to many more years of collaboration to come.”

Morrisons, which has just under 600 stores across the U.K., highlighted Cargill’s dedication, values and collaborative approach.

In 2013, Morrisons introduced the “M Partnership” program to drive efficiencies between its business and suppliers. Cargill was an early adopter of the program, working with the retailer to improve the performance of the fresh chicken and rotisserie product categories, and leading a a collaborative approach with other chicken suppliers to meet the challenge of the current trading environment.

Caspar Meijer, group trading director Morrisons, said: “In the last year alone, Cargill’s work has exemplified the values and approach we seek for all our suppliers to enable us to deliver high class products and services to our customers. For us, the 2015 Supplier of the Year, had to be Cargill.”
