French silo operator Senalia said it would stop taking wheat deliveries beginning the week of May 4 until further notice because of lack of demand, according to a report.
Senalia, the main silo operator at the port of Rouen in northern France and one of the delivery silos for Euronext’s milling wheat futures, said the suspension is due to a decrease in milling wheat loading requests. The company noted that there was a strong demand for delivery.
Shipments have significantly decreased after heavy volumes were recorded in April, with only two cargoes of wheat loading at the port on April 30.
Senalia took similar measures in September 2014 due to a weak export outlook linked to a poor-quality crop. That was followed by Socomac, the other delivery point for the Euronext wheat market.
