The 29th SPACE expo will be held at the Rennes Exhibition Centre in Rennes, France, from September 15-18.
In the past three years, SPACE has seen steady growth; as of May 4, there were 1,257 exhibitors registered for the event, more than at the same time last year. There are 392 foreign exhibitors from 32 countries, and there are 20 more new exhibitors registered than at the same time last year.
This year's theme is, "My Connected Farm - Performance at my fingertips," presenting the ways digital technology can be used in the livestock industry. The target objectives are to improve farm performance, working conditions for farmers and employees, and animal welfare while reducing the use of inputs. The ongoing search for ways to improve farm management is also the topic of many seminars and conferences organized during SPACE.
Farm visits
SPACE will feature farm tours, particularly intended for
foreign visitors. The half-day visits are organized by the International Club,
in association with the travel agency Agri-Pass and with support from ADEPTA.

Research and Development Village
Digital applications are a daily part of farmers’ lives, for
remotely controlled automated systems, food distribution, monitoring animals
and equipment, detection of health problems, price management, weather
forecasting or business news. Eighty-five percent of farmers use the Internet
every day for their business needs.
Given that this revolution is a key factor for
the future of the industry, the elected representatives of the Brittany
Chambers of Agriculture wanted to develop this theme at the SPACE 2015 Research
and Development Village. The innovation-oriented Village is open to all sectors
and all sizes of farms, and will present equipment already on the market as
well as technologies in the pipeline. The village is designed to educate and
guide farmers in using everyday digital technology for the livestock sector,
through numerous events, demonstrations, dialogues, debates and testimonials.
Digital workshops
Proven equipment, and more particularly the technologies of
tomorrow, will be presented in 4 workshops:
Dairy Cattle Digital Workshop: Personalized animal
monitoring sensors and detectors connected to data processing software,
applications for smartphones or PC and more will be featured in this roundup of
new tools that help farmers more accurately monitor individual animals in terms
of health and feed to continue improving performance and working conditions in
dairy farming.
Pork and Poultry Digital Workshop: Precision feeding and
detection of pathologies. The technologies being designed using digital
technology will be the focus of this future-oriented workshop: precision
feeding in pig farming, disease detection and behavioral analysis in pigs and
poultry, monitoring and control of the air quality in poultry buildings.
Agronomy Digital Workshop: Intra-field precision. Precision
agriculture practices now make it possible to collect data on individual fields
and even within a single field. The digital technologies presented in this area
include remote sensing to support precision fertilization and disease
detection, with imaging by satellite and drone and appropriate treatments; and
geolocation and self-guided farm machinery, for working the fields down to
centimeter accuracy.
Security Digital Workshop: Targeted protection
of farms. The protection of farm equipment and livestock is becoming
increasingly important in our major farming regions. In addition to video
surveillance, other technologies continue to be developed and will be unveiled
at the village.
