Charoen Pokphand Group (CP Group) and the government of Jilin province is planning a Jilin Chia Tai Foods Co. Ltd. poultry plant project, one of three agricultural industrialization projects in an agreement signed by both entities.
The project, with an input of CNY1.742 billion (US$280.64 million) covers an area of 343,888 square meters and contains a slaughtering and processing workshop, a modern food processing workshop, a workshop for prepared foods, a sewage treatment plant, a broiler house, one office building, four staff accommodation buildings and other support facilities.
The groundbreaking ceremony of the new food processing plant commenced in the industrial zone of Yushu city on July 2 in the presence of the vice-president of CP Group Yang Xiaoping and the mayor of Changchun Jiang Zhiying and other dignitaries.
When put into operation, the plant, with an annual processing capacity of 100 million broilers, can sell chicken products 225,000 tons per year. The annual output value can amount to CNY4.196 billion (US$675.98 million), contributing to an annual tax revenue of about CNY85.86 million (US$13.83 million) for the local government and creating jobs for about 6,500 workers.
The new plant will not only increase the incomes of the farmers and propel the local economy, but also will mark the new milestone of CP Group’s food strategies and its cooperation with Jilin Province, according to vice-president Yang Xiaoping.
Based in the industrial zone of Yucheng city, Jilin Chia Tai Foods Co., Ltd. is a large agro-industry company invested by CP Group. Jilin Chia Tai Foods provides series of chicken products under the brand of CP Food.
