Winning NZ meat products donated to mission

A contest of butchery skills in New Zealand led to a donation of top-quality meat products to the Auckland City Mission

An array of the best New Zealand has to offer in meat products showcasing butcher skill was donated by NZPork to the Auckland City Mission on Sept. 11. The Auckland City Mission thanked NZPork for the generous donation.

The meat products were the outcome of the Butchery Tri-Nations challenge held in Auckland Sept. 10. This is an annual event that sees New Zealand butchers battle it out with Australia and the United Kingdom’s top teams to find the best of the three. New Zealand’s national butchery team, The Pure South Sharp Blacks took out the title for the third consecutive year. NZPork congratulates the team on their outstanding effort.

The Pure South Sharp Blacks were selected after a nomination and trial process which attracted more than 50 butchers from around the country. The team is managed by Heller’s founder, Todd Heller.

This year’s team members include Greg Egerton of New World Mosgiel, Abigail Lane of Neat Meat Queenstown, Phill Pirie of Clark’s Organic Meat Specialists in Auckland, Matthew Spires of PAK’nSAVE Te Awamutu, Bruce van der Net of PAK’nSAVE Taupo and Corey Winder (captain) of Elite Meats in Christchurch.
