Novus secures key intermediate plant for ALIMET production

Novus International, Inc. has acquired the Methylmercaptopropanal (MMP) plant from Union Carbide Corporation, a subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company, in St. Charles Parish, LA.

Novus International, Inc. has acquired the Methylmercaptopropanal (MMP) plant from Union Carbide Corporation, a subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company, in St. Charles Parish, LA. MMP is a key intermediate in the manufacture of ALIMET® feed supplement. ALIMET® feed supplement provides a methionine source for livestock in the form of HMTBa. Methionine is an essential amino acid for poultry, swine, cattle and aquaculture diets and ALIMET® demonstrates proven performance in these applications. 

This acquisition follows Novus's previous ALIMET® expansion announcement in the U.S. Gulf Coast region reinforcing commitment to its customer base. "Acquiring the MMP unit, which is based on Novus proprietary technology, supports our long term strategy in the methionine market," stated Jeff Klopfenstein, Methionine Business Unit President. "Novus now owns 100 percent of the MMP plants supporting ALIMET® production."
