According to a report from the Clarion-Ledger, Ryn Laster will be the new chairperson for the association’s board of directors. Laster, with more than 20 years’ experience in the poultry industry, also served as APA board chair in 2010 and was only the second woman to do so.

Laster is the director of food safety for Cal-Maine Foods, where she oversees food safety matters for the company’s 49 facilities. She earned a Ph.D. in food science with an emphasis in poultry science from Mississippi State University.

Cindy Tucker has been selected to chair the association’s grower advisory committee. Tucker has raised broiler chickens for Peco Foods since 1995. She has two sons that also have their own poultry operations.
