Following talks that date back to 2014, Iranian officials have given Russia clearance to import poultry and beef products into the country.

According to Rosselkhoznadzor, the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, delegations from both countries met in late January to finalize details of talks of trade between the Iran and Russia.

During the meeting, representatives of the Iranian Veterinary Organization informed Rosselkhoznadzor that Russia’s system of animal production control is efficient and compliant with the highest world standards, and that Russian poultry meat and beef produced by Russian establishments and accompanied by veterinary certificates agreed on by both countries would be able to export products to Iran, effective immediately.

Additionally, delegates from Iran informed Russian leaders that Iran would be interested in the import of Russian honey and deer meat. The two parties agreed to evaluate the Russian system of deer meat production control in the current year to facilitate deer meat exports from Russia.
