Burnbrae Farms acquiring Michael Foods Canada

Burnbrae Farms, Canada’s largest producer of table eggs, has entered into an agreement to acquire the assets of Michael Foods Canada (MFI Food Canada).

Burnbrae Farms, Canada’s largest producer of table eggs, has entered into an agreement to acquire the assets of Michael Foods Canada (MFI Food Canada).

With the acquisition, Burnbrae Farms will expand its presence the egg products market.

“The acquisition of these assets is part of our continued growth strategy, expanding our Canadian manufacturing capacity and enhancing our new product innovation capabilities. It also broadens our product portfolio, which will now include the manufacture of a variety of top quality dried eggs and egg products,” Margaret Hudson, president of Burnbrae Farms, said in a statement.

Hudson stated that the company will work with the MFI Canada leadership team and its employees to integrate the businesses, share learning and plan for the future. 

“We look forward to continuing to grow our business by providing excellent products, responsive customer service, and exciting new innovations,” she said.

Burnbrae Farms, headquartered in Mississauga, Otario, is a fifth generation family business with a long history of growth and innovation. According to the WATT Global Media Top Poultry Companies Database, the Canadian company’s brands include Burnbrae, Naturegg, Egg Creations, Prestige and Super Bon-ee. The company’s history dates back more than 100 years.

Michael Foods was recently ranked third among the top U.S. egg companies in a survey conducted annually by Egg Industry. It is a subsidiary of Post Holdings.
