Total cereal production in the EU is estimated at 289 million tonnes according to Strategie Grains . This is down by 2 metric tons compared to the 291 MT previously estimated. It said in its latest report that, after "abundant rainfall assuaged concerns over low humidity levels in the soil at the end of winter" in eastern European countries-Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, (which also brought delays to spring crop plantings)-weather conditions around the Mediterranean remained dry.
