Smithfield sampled dishes at Baconfest Chicago
Some of the city's best chefs created special recipes for the event
More than 100 of Chicago's best chefs concocted and served creative bacon dishes to thousands of passionate bacon lovers at Baconfest Chicago on May 1.
Smithfield, one of America's leading bacon brands, sampled new, flavorful recipes during the event presented by Jewel-Osco. Developed by Smithfield's Chef Frank Dominguez, the creations included Bacon & Jack Tots with Cholula ketchup, Bacon-Wrapped Goat Cheese-Stuffed Dates, and Coconut Bacon Macaroons.
"We're thrilled to participate in this festival as a supporting sponsor of the Baconfest Chicago Sunday Brunch event alongside one of our great partners in the Chicago area, Jewel-Osco," said Mike Merritt, Smithfield Senior Director of Marketing. "Chicago has some of the best chefs in the country, and we all know that bacon makes everything better. It's exciting for us to participate in an event that unites fellow bacon lovers in celebration of our favorite meat candy!"
"We couldn't be more excited to be a sponsor of Baconfest this year," said Guy Cardinal, Jewel-Osco Meat Assistant Sales Manager. "April has been celebrated as ‘Baconfest Month' throughout all 185 of our stores, so this event is a fantastic way to top it off! Whether attendees stop[ped] by to try our delicious samples or our Signature Bloody Mary, one thing is certain — it's for the love of bacon!"
