Hybrid pig genetics may cross national lines

A project in Denmark would investigate with traditional forms of genetics.

Danish pig breeding research into possibilities for gourmet pork has been reported by a bulletin of the British Pig Executive.

It said a new project in Denmark would investigate crossing national lines with more traditional forms of genetics, such as the Mangalitsa from Hungary and the Iberican breed from Spain.

The pork from such hybrids would be evaluated for its appeal both as fresh meat and in processed products.
