Cherkizovo Group received gold and silver awards for its meat products at an international quality competition during IFFA 2016. The leading international trade fair for the meat-processing industry, which is held every three years, took place in Frankfurt May 7-12.

The international quality competition was run by the German Meat Association. This year’s contest marked the first time that companies from Russia and the CIS were able to present their products. This gave meat producers from Russia and the surrounding region an excellent opportunity to raise their profiles internationally and showcase the high quality of their products.

An independent judging panel consisting of five industry experts reviewed samples from a variety of producers. In order to guarantee the integrity of the judging process, all information regarding the producers was kept confidential. The judging criteria included visual appeal, packaging, flavor, odor and adherence to international quality standards.

The judges unanimously approved nine of Cherkizovo Group’s samples. The experts particularly enjoyed the taste of “Klassniye” sausages, the “Microwave marinated scallop” and the Cherkizovo-branded “Microwave garlic battered neck fillet steak.” They also praised the exceptional quality of “Cherkizovo ham” and “Cherkizovo doctor sausage.”

Andrei Cholokyan, head of the meat processing division of Cherkizovo Group, commented, “Receiving the gold and silver accolades for quality at IFFA 2016 is a great honor for us and is testament to the exceptional quality of our products. We are one of the few players in Russia that operates across the entire production chain, from feed manufacturing and animal breeding to meat processing and distribution. This enables us to ensure that the sausages and ready-to-cook products we produce are of the highest quality. Our flexible business model has also allowed to quickly and successfully adjust our portfolio to the current challenging economic environment by offering our consumers more affordable products, without compromising on quality. In 2015 the meat processing segment demonstrated solid growth of 30% and we will continue to expand our business to become the market leader in Russia, while maintaining the high quality of our products.”

IFFA is the largest meat industry forum in Europe and is considered the number one event in the international meat-processing sector. Over 63,000 people from 143 countries attended this year’s event.
