US pork storage lower than predicted

Ham inventories reportedly swelled by 23.5% in May

Stocks of pork in storage have increased marginally by 0.8% over last May, despite fears that H1N1 and export declines might pile up pork supplies, according to the USDA's monthly Cold Storage Report.

CME Group's Daily Livestock Report states that ham inventories swelled by 23.5% in May over the previous month, but even those stocks were more than 28% lower than the same period last year.
