Russian turkey and duck producer Eurodon increased its turkey meat production by 50 percent during the first half of 2016, the company recently announced.

According to a news release from the company, Eurodon produced 30 metric tons of turkey meat for the six-month period, doubling its production from the same six-month period in 2015. Since Eurodon’s turkey production began in 2006, the company has processed a total of 250,000 metric tons.

For the full year, Eurodon expects to produce about 70,000 metric tons, which would nearly double the 47,000 metric tons of turkey meat produced during 2015. The increase in production is possible through the technological advances of new facilities.

Eurodon, according to the WATTAgNet Top Poultry Companies database, is Russia’s largest turkey producer, processing turkey under the Inolina brand. It has a goal of becoming one of the world’s top five turkey producers.

In 2015, the company opened the largest turkey poult hatchery in Europe. The new hatchery, located in the Rostov region, has an annual capacity of 17.6 million eggs.

The company also produces ducks under the Donstar brand.
