The Poultry Science Association Foundation (PSA Foundation) acknowledged Merck Animal Health as a Torch Bearer for establishing the Merck Animal Health PhD. Fellowship Program in Poultry Health for 2016, 2017 and 2018. Dr. Audrey McElroy accepted the plaque on behalf of Merck Animal Health during the Donor Reception of the PSA Annual Meeting in New Orleans, LA. The visionary gift for the education of talented graduate students interested in poultry science was established through the PSA Foundation Charting Our Course – Securing Future Leadership for Poultry Campaign (Capital Campaign). The Merck Animal Health Fellowships, awarded on a nationally competitive basis, provide the three-year stipend for students pursuing the Ph.D. degree. Ms. Emily Kimminau, now pursuing her Ph.D. at Texas A&M University, was awarded the inaugural 2016 Merck Animal Health Fellowship. "I would like to thank Merck Animal Health and the Poultry Science Association for the honor of this fellowship. It will help me to pursue my dream of working in poultry gut health and I am extremely grateful for the financial assistance" stated Emily. She spoke further expressing gratitude for the generosity and vision of Merck Animal Health and the support which the fellowship will afford her education process as she becomes part of the next generation of scientific leaders.
