Pig breeder Hypor Inc. has announced signing a contract to purchase the purebred Duroc nucleus herd of Shade Oak Swine Ltd. in Ontario, Canada.
Owned by the Ypma family, Shade Oak Swine Ltd. focuses on producing Duroc terminal sires. The agreement includes all AI boars owned by Shade Oak and located at various third party AI stations.
Additionally, Hypor will enter into a distribution agreement with Shade Oak’s boar stud division known as Total Swine Genetics. The transaction is expected to be completed in this fall.
The ownership and operations of TSG’s AI stud are not affected by the transaction. Hypor will continue to supply Shade Oak genetics to TSG.
