Chick-fil-A executive speaks at NCPF's annual meeting

The Grandover Resort & Conference Center was again the venue for North Carolina Poultry Federation’s Annual Meeting held in early August.

The Grandover Resort & Conference Center was again the venue for North Carolina Poultry Federation’s Annual Meeting held in early August. The 49th Annual Meeting included the election of the 2016-17 Board of Directors, a conversation between Gov. Pat McCrory and Ag Commissioner Steve Troxler, award presentations to three outstanding growers, two DSA presentations, and a keynote address by Mike Ledford of Chick-fil-A’s corporate office in Atlanta.

2015-16 NCPF president Ronnie Parker and Commissioner Troxler presented the 2016 Grower Environmental Award to Jammie and Kim Piercy of C&C Quick Turn Farm in Clinton, a grower for Prestage Farms. Finalists were Donald Grady of the Grady Farm in Albertson, a grower for Sanderson Farms, and Richard Kern of Triple Oak Farm in Rockingham, a grower for Perdue Farms.

Two Distinguished Service Awards were presented to Dr. Sarah Mason of NCDA&CS and Dr. Mike Williams of the NCSU Prestage Dept. of Poultry Science. Both Mason and Williams have played an active role in the education of this industry.

The 2016-17 Executive Board is made up of Jeff Stalls of Perdue Farms, President; Neal Walsh of Butterball, 1st Vice President; Charles Rigdon of Case Farms, 2nd Vice President; Andrew Boyles of Tyson Foods, Secretary/Treasurer; and Ronnie Parker of Circle-S-Ranch, Past President.
