Ross Africa, the long-standing distributor of Ross products in the sub-Saharan region, held its annual Ross Africa Distributor Customer Focus Team (DCFT) meeting in Lusaka, Zambia, in mid-July.
Ross Africa is in its 25th year as a Ross distributor and celebrated the anniversary and 60 years of Aviagen’s Ross brand over the course of the four-day event. Delegates, which included local farmers and Ross customers from 12 different countries, also received poultry advice, management information and commercial updates through a series of interactive and meaningful knowledge-exchange sessions. A trophy to commemorate the 25th anniversary was presented to Colin Lindsay, managing director of Ross Zambia.
The first three days were dedicated to Parent Stock and the fourth focused on broilers, with presentations delivered by the Ross Middle East and Africa (MEA) team members from Aviagen. The agenda included a focus on genetic improvements and how to maximize the performance of Ross flocks, a marketing exercise, plus sessions on chick transportation, the importance of temperature control, bio-security and brooding.
“The Ross Africa DCFT meeting presented a great opportunity for Aviagen and Ross Africa to have discussions with customers and share issues that are common out in the field,” said Robert Haggarty, Aviagen’s senior technical manager for MEA. “It is important to update our customers with practical and interactive sessions.”
“The interactive element of this DCFT meeting was popular among attendees, as it got them engaged in the topics presented,” added Lindsay. “The various high-quality presentations from the Ross MEA team were delivered in a relaxed and stimulating environment. We would like to extend a big thank you to all organizers and attendees and look forward to our next gathering in a year’s time.”
