In response to the growth in the UK free range egg sector, Joice and Hill, the UK distributor of Hendrix Genetics layer breeds, will begin supplying a new generation of Warren layers.
Chicks will be available on a limited basis from early March and will create an additional option to the existing Hendrix portfolio. Over the last few years, the R&D team at Hendrix Genetics has been working on the new Warren genetics with the free range sector in mind. Focusing on behavior and resilience, the lines have been selected and tested in the floor system breeding center in Champcourt, France, under the watchful eye of R&D Director Frans van Sambeek and Senior Geneticist Julian Fablet.
Recognizing the challenges facing free range producers, the new Warren will be slightly heavier framed with all the advantages of a modern hybrid: egg quality, productivity and performance.
