The Canadian Meat Council has elected Troy Warren as President and Chair of the Board for 2016-2018.

Warren is currently Vice President, Product Management, Planning, and Procurement for Maple Leaf Foods. During an 18-year career with Maple Leaf Foods, he has held a series of progressively responsible leadership roles.

In 2010, Warren launched Maple Leaf Foods Raised Without Antibiotic Pork Production. Over the past five years, he has led the global customer and product portfolio expansion of this category, managing the commercial component of Maple Leaf Foods Primary Pork operations, and recording annual sales exceeding $1.3 billion.

With a head office located in Toronto, Maple Leaf Foods is Canada’s largest producer of consumer packaged meats. The company’s brands include Maple Leaf, Maple Leaf Prime, Schneiders, and Mina.

Canada’s meat processing industry includes some 400 federally registered establishments, providing safe, high-quality protein for Canadian consumers, but also adding jobs and contributing significantly to local economic activity in both rural and urban Canada. With annual sales of $24 billion, beef exports of $2.2 billion, pork exports of $3.4 billion, and 65,000 jobs, the Canadian meat industry is the largest component of this country’s food processing sector.
