A new partnership agreement has been signed to extend the Leong Hup Group’s distribution of the Cobb500 broiler breeder in Malaysia.

The agreement followed a visit by Pelayo Casanovas, Cobb general manager for the Asia-Pacific region, and Mark Glavey, Cobb key accounts director for Asia, to the group’s new grandparent farm located on an isolated 533-acre stretch of land in Desaru, Malaysia.

They were accompanied by senior Leong Hup executives—Tan Sri Francis Lau, executive director; Lau Jui Peng, deputy chief executive; and Lee Liong Chin, general manager.

After visiting the farm, the party traveled to Muar, the original home of the Leong Hup Group. There, the new agreement was signed, extending the working partnership between the two companies.

The new grandparent farm is more than seven miles long and for enhanced biosecurity it is divided into seven separate units of imported grandparents with at least 765 yards between each. The farm has the capacity to produce 3.5 million parent stock a year, increasing ultimately to seven million.

Casanovas said, “With this agreement we extend into the future an already solid partnership between Cobb and Leong Hup. We are very proud of our association with this exceptional company and with the Lau family, and we look forward to supporting each other for years to come.”

Glavey added, "We are extremely impressed with the state-of-the-art design of the Desaru grandparent farm, as well as the strict biosecurity standards and isolated location.”
