Mohd Bejos wins Innovation in Vaccination Award

One of the highlights of the recent WVPA Asia Meeting in Manila was the presentation of the WVPA-Merial Innovation in Vaccination Award to Mohd Hair Bejo from Malaysia

One of the highlights of the 3rd WVPA Asia Meeting held recently in Manila was the presentation, in absentia, of the 2nd WVPA-Merial Innovation in Vaccination Award to Mohd Hair Bejo from Malaysia. The award is given in recognition of Bejo's work, including the commercialization of a Gumboro disease vaccine for hatchery use in Asia. He is now actively involved in the research and development of the next generation of Gumboro disease vaccines.

In announcing Bejo as winner of the 2016 Award, Merial’s Andreas Herrmann highlighted the importance of such vaccines to the poultry industry and the professor’s parallel career in academia where he has supervised numerous post graduate students, many of whom have focused on aspects of immunology and vaccination.

“In professor Bejo we have a worthy winner of this year’s Award,” said Nigel Horrox, WVPA’s president.
