Aviagen’s Randall Vickery recently presented “Broiler Breeder Male Management for Best Fertility” at the University of Georgia (UGA) in Athens, Ga. He addressed an audience of UGA Master of Avian Medicine veterinary students and professionals from the poultry industry.

Vickery is the regional technical manager for North America Aviagen. Vickery stressed the importance of Male Management to successful poultry breeding. He explained, “The optimum industry mating ratio means that males influence up to nine times more chicks than females. However, males must be carefully and conscientiously managed to reach their full reproductive potential.”

As a global leader in poultry genetics, Aviagen regularly shares its knowledge and best-practice management advice to benefit customers, producers, growers and a host of other poultry industry professionals. The company also collaborates with customers on topics such as male management to help them get the best performance from their birds.

“We value opportunities to help expand the knowledge base of the next generation of poultry professionals. These are the people who will shape the poultry industry of tomorrow,” concludes Vickery.

Vickery has been helping Aviagen customers reach the maximum performance potential with their broiler breeding stock since he joined the company in 2012. Before that, he worked in the areas of broiler, breeder and hatchery management with various U.S. poultry companies. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal, Dairy and Poultry Science from Auburn University.
