Pig and Poultry LIVE 09, new from the Royal Agricultural Society of England (RASE) partnership with ABN, is designed to give producers and supply chain businesses an opportunity to "directly influence the food supply chain." The event will take place on 13 May, at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire.

A live debate will kick off proceedings with delegates using state-of-the-art audience voting technology. The debate on key issues will gauge opinion from producers, processors and retailers, together with shoppers, and record their votes on the issues of UK consumer needs, sustainability, global market influences and meeting today's challenges.

Debates, discussions, workshops

The morning debate, titled "The Supply Chain LIVE - What's its view?," will be hosted by BBC farming correspondent Adam Henson and supported by a panel of representatives from across the food chain.

A network lunch will provide a chance for discussion before the afternoon's series of technical and business workshops on topics ranging from health and welfare to business marketing.

"Producers know that thorough understanding and good management of on-farm challenges are essential in today's volatile markets and the workshops will make a valuable contribution to business competitiveness," says Alice Bell, RASE Technical Events Manager.

The day will culminate with a view of the industry and a final opinion from each of the panels on the most important factor influencing the future success of the supply chain, followed by a concluding vote from the industry.

"There are a limited number of visitor places and we want to ensure producers are well represented so I advise early booking for what promises to be an informative and inspirational day," Bell concludes.
