Dutch pig meat exports were only slightly higher in the first half of 2008 compared with the same period of 2007, attributed to increased shipments to non-EU markets. Domestic production increased, but demand on other EU markets was not very strong, characterised by low prices and high supplies, especially in the first quarter.
