Ukraine bans pork imports from North Caucasus regions

The Ukraine State Veterinary Medicine Committee announced a ban on pork imports from regions in the North Caucasus.

Following a World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) report of an outbreak of African swine fever in the village of Gorkaya Balka in the Sovetsky district in Russia’s Stavropol province, a ban on pork imports from regions in the North Caucasus has been announced by Ukraine’s State Veterinary Medicine Committee.

According to news agency Interfax, the ban covers imports from the Stavropol province and an area comprising the Rostov region, the Republic of Kalmykia, Dagestan, North Ossetia, the Republic of Karacahi-Cherkess, Krasnodar, the Republic of Adygei and the Chechen Republic.
