The State Statistics Committee of Ukraine reported that on October 1, 2008, Ukraine had a total of 6.9 million pigs on its farms, representing a 14.4% drop from a year ago.
Geographically, the Ukrainian province with most pigs at present is Dnipropetrovsk, with 445,000. Second for size was Cherkasy with 420,100 pigs, followed by Kiev (around the national capital city) with 418,800.
