Moy Park broiler manager gets Distinguished Service Award

David Harkin, Moy Park broiler manager, has been presented with the Distinguished Service Award for 2016, at the British Poultry Council’s (BPC) annual award ceremony at the House of Commons.

David Harkin, Moy Park broiler manager, has been presented with the Distinguished Service Award for 2016, at the British Poultry Council’s (BPC) annual award ceremony at the House of Commons.

Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) minister George Eustice MP presented Harkin with the award which recognized his dedicated contribution to the poultry industry. David has spent the last 28 years working for Moy Park, where he is responsible for leading a team of over 100 employees and contract farmers. The judges highlighted his commitment to staff training and development, and outstanding management practices.

Commenting on his award, Harkin said: “It was a great honor and privilege on behalf of Moy Park to be invited to the House of Commons and receive the distinguished service award. I was delighted to be nominated and it was even more rewarding to be acknowledged by my peers within such a dynamic industry.”

David Gibson, Moy Park director of agriculture added: “It is fantastic to see David recognized for his outstanding contribution to the poultry sector. His sheer knowledge of the industry enables him to mentor many of the current managers within the company, while his continued drive and enthusiasm ensures his team is always striving to achieve new records.”
