Valley of the Moon Commercial Poults (VOMCP) has announced that Ira Brister has joined the company as Senior Technical Services Representative. In this role Brister will provide technical support for both VOMCP and Aviagen Turkeys customers raising Nicholas turkeys.
Brister brings a tremendous depth of experience to VOMCP and Aviagen Turkeys. After graduating from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Poultry Science, Brister has spent the last 30 years managing turkey production operations including seven years with Cargill Turkey Products. At Cargill, Brister served as grow-out manager in Texas then Senior Agricultural Manager where he directed all live operations in Texas including the feed mill, hatchery, breeder operations, loading crews and all contract and company farms. Brister has experience in developing new housing specifications and blueprints including equipment lists and layouts.
Most recently Brister served as manager of live turkey production for Foster Farms in California, again directing all live turkey operations. While at Foster, he initiated an organic growing program which expanded to include weekly fresh ground turkey in addition to whole body A Grade turkeys for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Brister is PAACO certified and can work with customers on Animal Welfare audits.
