Perdue Farms’ associates in Salisbury, Maryland, were the top fund-raising team for the 2016 American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Wicomico County.
Associates contributed $35,642 toward the $170,000 that was raised during the campaign to support the American Cancer Society’s fight against cancer. The Perdue team includes associates from its corporate office and the Perdue AgriBusiness office in Salisbury.
“The Perdue Chicks team is a fund-raising powerhouse for our Relay For Life event,” said Kendall Guy, Wicomico County Relay event co-chairperson. “We are delighted that this team, with the backing of the Perdue workforce and our local community, continue to strive to attain our Top Adult Fundraising Team award year after year. The money raised by the Perdue Chicks makes a significant impact in the fight against cancer and the services that can be provided by the American Cancer Society. We look forward to joining forces again in 2017.”
The Relay For Life of Wicomico County was held September 17, 2016, at Winterplace Park.
“At Perdue, we have a long history of supporting the fight against cancer through Relay For Life, not only in Wicomico County but throughout many of the communities where our associates live and work,” said Danielle Cordrey, a Perdue Relay For Life campaign coordinator.
Since 1997, Perdue associates have contributed more than $439,592 to support Relay For Life in Wicomico County.
Throughout the year, Perdue associates support Relay For Life by participating in a variety of fund-raising activities, including a designer handbag bingo, the Shorebird Metric Century Bike Ride, a golf tournament and luminary sales, as well as Relay For Life.
“We’re proud to be a partner with the American Cancer Society and help end the suffering of so many from cancer,” said Cordrey.
