Cobb Europe has announced two new appointments — Russell Jones as commercial manager and Nigel Strain as broiler specialist for the region.

Jones, who has 25 years’ experience in the livestock industry, will be responsible for all direct markets. His sales career started in pig and poultry equipment and then on to nutrition and animal health. Jones later ran his own consulting business that focused on renewable energy and farm-scale anaerobic digestion.

Strain began working in the chicken industry in the early 1990s and progressed to management roles with major UK producers. In 2015 he spent time as production director in the Bryansk area of Russia responsible for an integrated operation rearing 1.2 million broilers per week. Strain is also qualified as a training assessor up to NVQ level 3 standard.

In other Cobb Europe moves, Paul Welten has been appointed as breeder specialist, and Patrick Van Trijp has returned to Western Europe as accounts manager responsible for distributors Cobb Germany, Broiler Budeshego and other grandparent operations in Russia. Van Trijp retains control of direct parent stock sales into the CIS region. As a result of this change, Irina Khamatshina will now lead the technical team in Russia, and Irina Likhacheva will continue to head up the sales.
