Investment in poultry plant in Ashbourne, U.K., enables facility to increase production

A major investment by Moy Park in its Ashbourne, U.K., facility has enabled the site to reach a significant production milestone of 1 million chickens per week.

The top 10 UK food company recently completed a GBP4 million (US$5 million) investment at the premises which included the installation of new processing and cutting lines, advanced chilling, software and hardware equipment, and the refurbishment of grading and storage areas. Overall, the investment program has boosted production at Ashbourne by a third.

Colin Grubb, general manager at Moy Park Ashbourne said: “This £4 million investment has allowed us to streamline processes and enhance productivity, ensuring we continue to meet growing demand from customers.  Reaching the milestone of producing 1 million chickens per week at Ashbourne is a great achievement for the entire team, who not only drive forward industry leading operational practices but also help us to deliver exemplary service.”

“This investment has not only focused on building operational capacity, but has also included investment in people development with over 100 staff taking part in skills training.”

This latest investment by Moy Park supports the company’s continued development.

Moy Park, according to the WATTAgNet Top Poultry Companies Database, is among the Top 5 European enterprises. Headquartered in Northern Ireland, Moy Park is a subsidiary of Brazil-based meat and poultry company JBS.
