US pork exports up 4.5 percent to 5.2 billion pounds

Mexico took in the largest share of US pork exports, for the second year in a row.

For 2016, total US pork exports were 5.2 billion pounds, topping 2015 by 4.5 percent. The US Department of Agriculture’s February “Livestock, Dairy and Poulty Outlook” reported that statistic, and that fourth-quarter exports reached 1.5 billion pounds, or 14 percent higher than last year’s fourth quarter.
