NPB returns to South Beach Wine & Food Festival

The National Pork Board (NPB) once again served as the Official Pork Sponsor and Preferred Protein of the 2017 Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival.

The National Pork Board (NPB) once again served as the Official Pork Sponsor and Preferred Protein of the 2017 Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival. This year, the NPB featured Chef Jose Mendin, five-time James Beard Award nominee, creating the only pork burger at the Burger Bash. Mendin’s Pork Mojo Burger features ground pork and pork shoulder with citrus aioli and pickled onions.

“I was very excited to compete in this year’s Burger Bash in partnership with the National Pork Board,” Mendin said. “One of my passions is cooking with pork, and I was happy to present the only pork burger of the competition.”

Throughout the Festival, the NPB participated in key events bringing top influencers to showcase the ongoing marketing campaign, the Taste of Now, which highlights pork as the most flavorful and ideal protein of any occasion.

“The Festival is the perfect setting to engage with consumers who love pork and are looking for additional ways to enjoy it,” said Jose de Jesus, director of multicultural marketing at the National Pork Board. “Pork means flavor and some of the best food experts showed consumers all the different ways they can cook and enjoy pork.”

The NPB also featured pork-inspired recipes at other events:

Tequila Cazadores presented Tacos After Dark sponsored by the National Pork Board. The late-night event was hosted by popular celebrity Chef Aarón Sánchez. The NPB partnered with Chef Jose Garces, winner of Season 2 of Food Network’s The Next Iron Chef and James Beard Award recipient, to treat attendees with one of the country's best pork tacos—Tacos de Cabeza.

Goya Foods’ Swine & Wine—presented by The National Pork Board and home of the National Pork Board’s 3rd Annual Critics’ Choice Awards—was an exclusive, all-pork event featuring over a dozen acclaimed chefs who competed to create the best pork dish. Award-winning Chef Cindy Hutson partnered with the NPB to create and feature a signature dish.
